The way this otter asks for cuddles will melt your heart…

People are sometimes shocked by how loving animals are. Sometimes they behave like children. An otter approached Zookeeper Will Whisennand, seeking love and attention. He was too adorable for words.

In the cutest video on TikTok, Whisennand captured the joyful occasion.

The zookeeper demonstrates how Bonnie, the otter, begs him for “uppies.” Bonnie approached his leg and firmly grasped it, akin to a child longing for a hug. Fortunately for Bonnie, Whisennand was more than willing to oblige. He picked her up and kissed her face. Bonnie seemed so content just relaxing in Whisennand’s arms. She’d probably spend the entire day there if he allowed her.

“Bonnie always wants ‘uppies,'” he said in the post.

It seems logical that Whisenand enjoys his profession. Many individuals in the comments section expressed intense jealousy.

“Excuse me, how do I become a professional otter cuddler?” one individual said. “WHERE WAS THIS ON CAREER DAY?!?!?” someone else asked. “Not to be dramatic, but I’d die for Bonnie,” another lady quipped. “How does it feel to live everyone’s dream?” one individual inquired.

If Whisennand’s tale has inspired you, here’s how you can enjoy daily Otter hugs while earning money.

First and foremost, all zookeepers must have experience working with animals, which is easier said than done. But there are ways to receive that important exposure even if you live far away from most wildlife. Begin by helping at local animal shelters, farms, or even zoos, which may offer volunteer programs. Understanding how to work with a variety of animals can only improve your abilities and make you a more competitive candidate when applying for jobs.

Then you’ll need to gain an education. To work at most zoos, you will need a college degree in biology or zoology. Study hard and acquire your degree to ensure you have the necessary qualifications. You may even apply to be a student zookeeper while still in school, or you may accept entry-level work in the summers or after graduation to build relationships for the future. Even if you don’t work with animals, you will have access to the right people who can assist you in your initial steps. With hard work and dedication, your ideal career could be yours. When you arrive, just don’t take all of the otter cuddles for yourself. Make sure the other zookeepers get their fair share of the affection.
