Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are determined to keep things “friendly” despite their current divorce procedures.

A source close to the Unstoppable actress, 55, tells PEOPLE that she and the Accountant 2 actor “are still moving forward with the divorce” and “continue to focus on the kids.”

Lopez has twins, Max and Emme, 16 years old, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

“They want to show the kids that things are peaceful,” says the insider, “and they want to stay friendly.” There’s still plenty of affection.”

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, the second anniversary of their traditional wedding ceremony in Georgia. They got married in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022.

The actress and singer filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing April 26, 2024, as the date of separation. Lopez filed for divorce without a lawyer; thus, she was officially self-represented. Irreconcilable disagreements served as the basis for the separation.

Lopez sought no spousal support for either side, and a source told PEOPLE that the couple did not marry with a prenuptial agreement. According to the documents, Affleck and the Atlas star will divide attorneys’ expenses, and Lopez wants her last name restored.

Despite their split, the couple appears to be on excellent terms, even reuniting for a cordial lunch on Sept. 14 with four of their five children.

Lopez and Affleck reportedly got together several times to celebrate his children in the months leading up to Lopez’s divorce filing, including Violet and Samuel’s graduations.

Following their September 14 meeting, a source informed PEOPLE that the former couple was “still moving forward with the divorce” and “working out financial details amicably.”

“They all came together for a fun lunch so the kids could hang out,” the insider said, adding that “a divorce is never easy” and “the kids always got along and had fun together.”

It makes [Lopez] pleased to watch the kids enjoying themselves together. “Happy children are her top priority,” the insider stated.
