Cat that walked onto the stage during orchestral concert became the unexpected star of the event

Oh, what it must be like to be a cat. To never experience impostor syndrome, to face opponents at least twice your size without trepidation, and to maneuver the world as if you were on every VIP list in existence. What a great existence. Take this concert-crashing cat, for example. During a live orchestra performance at the 52nd annual Istanbul Music Festival, an inquisitive kitten came up on stage with no care in the world—and of course, that was all everyone could think about.

In a video published on social media by numerous news agencies, including @abcnews on TikTok, we see the gray and white cat enter the stage, as if pulled in by the funny music being played.

Then it practically catwalks across the stage, unfazed from start to finish.

Of all, as many viewers noted, this is a frequent sight in Istanbul, which, like many Muslim nations, has a soft spot for cats. According to Catster, cats do not have owners. Instead, they are cared for by the whole community throughout the city, from tea cafes to ferries to public transportation and more. Istanbul even provides medical treatment to its stray cats, including spaying and neutering, emergency care, and a mobile vet bus. It’s pretty much cat heaven over there.

Cats are treated differently than other pets in Islam. “Cats have a very special place in the Muslim household and in the Muslim culture in general,” Imran Malik said to The Columbus Dispatch. A major reason for this is that they are seen as pure, clean, and sanitary. The Prophet Muhammad was also known for his affection for cats.

Aside from praising Istanbul for its feline-friendly environment, individuals expressed their admiration for the cat who “stole the show.”

Someone else said, “That’s his background music, and he’s off on a big adventure.”

Another expressed the cat’s perspective, adding, “How lovely, the humans are playing me a song.”

Some even shared their greatest cat jokes.

“I think it was trying to find the ‘purr-cussion’ section,” one individual said.

Another stated, “That is an ARISTOCAT.”

Istanbul may go above and beyond for its cats, but our admiration for feline bravery is universal.
