Eva Mendes explains why she decided not to show her children’s faces at Olympics

Eva Mendes had some family time during the 2024 Paris Olympics, but on her terms.

On Tuesday, August 6, the 50-year-old actress posted an Instagram photo from Paris, France, where she was attending the Olympics with her longtime lover Ryan Gosling, 43, and his two kids, Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 8.

Mendes commented that she was glad to share a selfie in Paris because “the minute I see photographers when I’m out, my guard and wall go up.”

Fans flooded her comment section, criticizing the Olympics’ prominence. One fan said, “Unfortunately, the Olympics [are] pretty high profile, and they are on the lookout for celebrities.” I hope you soon find yourself in a situation where you can simply spend time together as a normal family.

Mendes responded to the user, saying, “They were kind about not posing the kids, so I’m a thankful motherbear.” Thank you for your thoughtful remark. I’ll send it back! ❤️”

Another person expressed their excitement that Mendes and her family were able to enjoy the Olympics. “Yes, we did!” “Thank you!” Mendes replied. “And I appreciate how @nbcolympics did not cut away from the kids! Most websites mask their faces, which makes Mama Bear pleased.

“Anyway, it was great to be there and unite with others.” Sending you lots of love! ❤️.”

Gosling and Mendes made a rare public appearance on Sunday, August 4, to enjoy the Summer Olympics. The renowned pair watched the dressage individual Grand Prix freestyle at the Chateau de Versailles before attending the women’s uneven bars final at Bercy Stadium.

Mendes and Gosling wore sunglasses and head covers to protect themselves from the sun during the equestrian event. The couple’s kids accompanied them on the gymnastics outing.
