Liam Neeson recalls the moment he fell in love with his late wife, Natasha Richardson, which was amazing…

Liam Neeson is reflecting on his romance with his late wife, Natasha Richardson.

Neeson, 73, mentioned Richardson briefly in a feature published by The New York Times on Thursday, July 31. The couple met in 1992 while costarring in a Broadway revival of the play Anna Christie, and they married in 1994. During their marriage, they had two boys, Micheál (now 30) and Daniel (28). Richardson, 45, died in March 2009 as a result of a skiing accident.

“It was great doing it every night with her and falling in love,” Neeson, who is now promoting his new comedy The Naked Gun, said about working with Richardson. According to the Times, his interview took place just one street from the theater that held the play.

Neeson also cited Richardson when discussing his action-revenge film Taken. The actor claimed that Richardson delivered the news to him that the first picture was a success “when she walked up the stairs, giggling, with a tray carrying tea and a bran muffin, to tell him that the film was doing well at the box office,” as the site said.

In October 2024, Neeson told PEOPLE how his family “pulled together” in the aftermath of Richardson’s unexpected death. He noted that his major concern became “making sure [the couple’s sons] were okay” and working, and that his mother-in-law, Vanessa Redgrave, and sister-in-law, Joely Richardson, “were extraordinary” in stepping up to assist the family.

At the time, Neeson stated that he was no longer dating. (After Richardson’s death, he dated public relations executive Freya St. Johnston from the United Kingdom for two years.) “No, in a word,” he told PEOPLE in that issue when asked if he still dates. “I’m past all that.”

Nonetheless, a source close to Neeson’s forthcoming film starring Pamela Anderson told PEOPLE on July 29 that the co-stars are “in the early stages” of dating.

The suspected romance has rapidly gained acceptance from Richardson’s prominent pals, like Andy Cohen, who stated on his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live on Wednesday that he “and all of the friends in this circle are very much stanning whatever it is” between Neeson and Anderson.

The Naked Gun opens in cinemas on August 1.
