Matt Damon and his wife of over two decades, Luciana Barroso, came out in matching outfits at a high-profile event in Hollywood.

On September 14, 2023, the pair visited New York Fashion Week and were pictured holding hands and smiling as Barroso walked behind her famous husband.

Damon dressed down in a white T-shirt, shoes, and gray dress slacks that complemented his wife’s silvery, glittering long-sleeve gown. Barroso finished off her ensemble with black shoes and a matching purse. For the Hermes event, the brunette beauty wore her dark locks up.

This was not the first time the couple had dressed in matching costumes for a public appearance. They were also seen wearing all-black ensembles at the premiere of Damon’s film “Air,” which is set to take place in March 2023.

Fans had previously criticized Damon’s appearance. “@StillwaterMovie” tweeted a Twitter user in August 2021. “Matt Damon’s face has gotten fat,” referring to the film in which he starred that year.

Other Twitter users remarked on Damon’s weight increase two years later, in July 2023. “What happened to his face?” someone wondered. In fact, I don’t believe he is the genuine Matt Damon.”

Another user wrote, “What happened to Matt Damon’s face?” with a sobbing face emoji and a shot of him that was scarcely recognizable. “Man, what happened to Matt Damon?” someone else on the platform inquired. One person expressed similar views, saying, “What happened to Matt Damon?”

In August, another social media user wrote, “My first thought was, ‘What happened to Matt Damon?” “Matt Damon is a perfect, jolly fat man; he’s just getting started,” said another.

Despite the bad comments that come with his celebrity, Damon’s wife has always been supportive of his profession, even when he was struggling.

In a July 2023 interview with Emily Blunt on “Jakes’ Takes,” the actor opened up about being melancholy due to his career and how his marriage helped him get through it.

Damon was asked about the finest piece of acting advice he has ever received from his girlfriend. He recalls being depressed during the making of an unnamed picture because it was not going as well as he had wanted. He said that Barroso urged him to keep going.

“You’re halfway through production and still have months to go, and you’ve taken your family somewhere and inconvenienced them.” And I remember my wife dragging me up because I had fallen into despair about, like, What have I done?” And she simply stated, ‘We’re here now,'”

Damon acknowledged the Argentine native, stating she was responsible for his success as an actor.

The film producer went on to say that his job requires him to labor 15 hours a day and give it his best even if he knows it would be a “losing effort,” adding:

“If you can do that with the best attitude possible, you’re a pro, and she really assisted me with that.”

Damon and Barroso met while he was filming a film in Miami and she was working as a bartender in South Beach. On a Saturday evening, he and the crew went to the pub where she worked and talked.

At the time, Barroso was a single mother raising her four-year-old daughter Alexia, which she revealed drew the screenwriter to her.

The adoring mother claimed that when she and Damon initially met, they had instant chemistry. He encouraged her to go out with him and his buddies, but she declined since she had a daughter, which impressed him.

In a May 2018 interview, Barroso stated, “And that was one of the things he loved, that I had a daughter.” ‘I appreciate that you’re a mom, and that’s your focus,’ he remarked.

The couple, who married in December 2005, have three additional children, Gia, Isabella, and Stella, whom they are teaching to be powerful and compassionate.

In a September 2015 interview, Barroso’s wife talked candidly about what she and their four children mean to him, saying they provide “a big, kind of existential relief.”

Damon said that he previously assumed he would never marry. He mentioned that his brother had met his soul mate at an early age, married at the age of 26, and had been married for a decade when he met Barroso, adding:

“And I saw this really happy, wonderful marriage and thought, ‘I guess that’s not going to happen for me.'” And then it happened.”

The Academy Award winner also stated that he and his wife and children seldom spend more than two weeks apart, saying that having children and sending them out into an unknown world is difficult. Damon and his children’s mother have been married for 17 years.
