The cat vanishes from home; the reason will surprise you…

An adventurous cat loved his visit to a bar in the United Kingdom so much that he chose to return after being returned to his owners, traveling more than 30 miles.

Peanut the cat shocked the staff at the Vat & Fiddle taproom in Nottingham, United Kingdom, when he arrived on July 9. According to the Daily Mail, he did so after escaping from his owners’ house in Lincolnshire, U.K., which is more than 30 miles away.

While hanging out in the pub, the kitten became a local social media celebrity, appearing in several Vat & Fiddle posts. While Peanut became acquainted with the regulars at the restaurant, the staff at Castle Rock Brewery, which is affiliated with the taproom, sought to locate his owners.

“This is our new furry buddy who has been visiting the tavern for the past two weeks.” Why don’t you come in and see if you can find her around the pub?” One post on the Vat and Fiddle’s Facebook page included photographs of Peanut cozying up to customers and bar furnishings.

Peanut allegedly loved his time in the pub, interacting with customers and earning the moniker Screech due to his unusual meow.

After futile attempts to locate Peanut’s owners on social media, the staff went to the vet, where they discovered that the cat had a microchip with their contact information. From there, the veterinarians were able to reach Rawlings and Bharma.

When the call came in, Rawlings told the Daily Mail that they were expecting the worst. However, they were overjoyed to find that Peanut was safe.

“Staff at the vets said he had been staying at a brewery, so I just typed on Facebook ‘Nottingham cat brewery,’ and all the posts they had been making came up!” She told me!

Rawlings hurried to the comments section of one post to respond to the news.

“This is our gorgeous pup Peanut, and we appreciate your assistance in finding him! He got to you all the way from Lincoln, and he turned one while he was absent, so he was allowed to celebrate his birthday in a pub as you’re supposed to, and we are so glad to have him home after a month. Thank you for caring for him,” she said.

Castle Rock hailed the happy reunion on Facebook, saying the furry visitor had “completely stolen our hearts.”

“We will miss you, Peanut. “Thank you for being a part of the team, even if only for a short time,” the bar stated.

After finding Peanut, his owners tried to place a collar on him in case he got away again. However, the creature seemed more interested in revisiting the tavern than in the neckwear.

Just a few weeks after Peanut departed the brewery and taproom, Castle Rock announced on Facebook that Peanut had managed to slip out for a second visit to the establishment.

“Some of you might remember Peanut—our furry visitor from Lincoln who even celebrated his first birthday at the Vat and Fiddle,” the brewery stated. It continued: “Well… he made a surprise return to the brewery on Friday!”

“Looks like Peanut came back to cash in his loyalty points!” the brewery quipped, adding, “Fortunately, we were able to reunite him with his owners once more.” Here’s hoping he remains at home this time (although we enjoyed seeing him again!).

Warehouse manager Simon Belshaw told Nottinghamshire Live that he “heard [Peanut] before I saw him.”

There were several hypotheses as to how Peanut managed to get to the bar not once, but twice. Rawlings noted the distance he went and claimed the cat’s travels were “a total mystery.”

“You hear of cats going missing and turning up miles from home—but not a cat doing it twice and to the same location,” she told me.

When Peanut executed his second escape, his owners knew where to search and handled his disappearance in a lighthearted manner.

“We’ll know where he’ll be—back at the Vat and Fiddle,” they told the Daily Mail.

Taproom general manager Danny Storer stated that they appreciated having a visitor and that Peanut “is always very welcome.”

“But I’m not sure his parents are thrilled with his habit!” He cracked a laugh.
