Everyone at Veterans Memorial High School, from instructors to students, was enthusiastic about the school’s annual homecoming. They were unaware that two children’s activities would lead to major news sites across the country covering this occurrence.
In 2019, major news sites selected Brandon Moreno and Madison McDaniel to compete for the title of new school royalty, and they emerged victorious.

The proclaimed King and Queen left Brandon and Madison feeling truly fulfilled. They couldn’t contain their enthusiasm as they excitedly accepted their crowns and took photos to capture the event forever.
Just a minute later, romantically linked Brandon and Madison announced their decision to relinquish their crowns, believing someone else deserved them more.

Even though they had thoughtfully considered it the night before the homecoming festivities, this news surprised everyone.
Robyn Ponce and Seth Thompson were astonished to hear their names and receive their crowns from Brandon and Madison, who had previously held those championships.

Scott Walker, the principal, stated that there was a standing ovation for the performance: “I got goosebumps, and there were many joyful tears shed.” It was simply one of those moments that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
Robyn and Seth are students in the same amazing class. Edna Salazar, a special education teacher at the school, expressed gratitude and satisfaction that they were able to feel included on that beautiful day. She described it as a “fantastic day.”” Just witnessing (McDaniel) place the crown on her was incredible in and of itself. His expression of surprise and bewilderment when he witnessed her delight was truly incredible.

The school’s Facebook page shared the lovely tale, praising Brandon and Madison for their selfless efforts and inclusive outlook, earning them accolades from the institution.
