When David was growing up, he was told the same story. It evolved into a story about a lost land and an unfulfilled destiny. Before David was born, members of his immediate family had cared for the same sizable plot of property for many years. But all changed when one of the members of the family obtained 80 districts. The country became split.
As he got older, David heard stories of what he had lost to his now-separated cousin. When the opportunity presented itself, he realized he needed to seize it since he wanted his own circle of relatives’ farms to be complete. He wasn’t sure exactly how he could get around it, but he felt it was up to him to at least make an attempt.

David arrived at the auction that day prepared to place a bid. He wasn’t sure he should compete with the larger cultivator he was up against, though.
David and his father have just been wishing for the best.
The auctioneer placed a bid to start the public sale. But you won’t think about what happened next: when he called for a second show, the room was hushed. No sound was heard from any of the 200 individual farms.

This answer was so drastically out of the ordinary that the auctioneer asked for a break. However, when they started working again at the farm, nobody bid. David, along with the rest of his immediate family, was astounded. They had little trouble regaining their farm! But why and how did it become so simple?
The Nebraska agricultural community was aware of the legend and wanted David and his immediate family to retake the property. In order to give themselves the best chance of winning the public auction, the protestors purposefully kept silent when the second offer was made. This wonderful story inspired awe and gratitude in David and the members of his immediate family. As we can see from this story, human compassion can go a very long way.
