When you see what is printed on this teen’s prom clothes, tears will well up in your eyes…

Aubrey Headdon, a Rochelle Township High School student, knew she wanted something special for her prom outfit. The 25 Marines from her Illinois town who passed away between 2010 and 2011 served as inspiration for Aubrey to design a lovely and patriotic outfit in their honor. The blue halterneck dress has red and white ribbons running through it, similar to an American flag. This one-of-a-kind creation was proudly exhibited on Aubrey’s special day, and it brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

Aubrey Headon was immensely happy to remember the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, during prom. The prom dress not only pays honor to slain Marines, but it also has the design of an American flag. The outfit has a blue base color with red and white ribbons running through it. These ribbons contrast with the blue gown and matching halter neck.

Although the dress design is remarkable, it is Aubrey’s decision to use her prom night to commemorate deceased troops that has everyone talking. This teen’s unselfish deed serves as a reminder of the countless sacrifices made in our country. We are very appreciative of Aubrey and everything she stands for!

“I wanted to wear this tribute dress to my senior prom so that the memories of the guys who fell in Afghanistan for our right to live how we do and do what we do every day are carried on,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle after photos of her patriotic gown went viral.

The heroes in her neighborhood inspired Aubrey. The mother of one of the slain Marines, Alec Catherwood, told her a heartbreaking story about the battalion headquartered at Camp Pendleton, California. His passing served as inspiration for Aubrey Headon, 19, to design the particular clothing.

“She told me that her son, Alec Catherwood, was a Marine in the Battalion and that his best friend had also been killed.” “It made me cry, and I decided then that I wanted to do something to honor them,” Aubrey explained.

The Rochelle Township High School senior created a blue outfit with red and white ribbons in the shape of the American flag. The design also includes a halter neckline to match the color of the Marines’ uniform.

Aubrey intends to attend college the following year and major in fashion design. She hopes to launch her own clothing brand and continue producing special occasion gowns like her prom dress homage.

“I definitely want to pursue a career in fashion,” Aubrey told me. “I would love to design more special occasion dresses like this one.”

In addition to the outfit, she designed a poster to honor the deceased Marines and educate the public about their lives.

“Their lives and their memories need to carry on so that they don’t fade into nothing.”

The 3rd Batallion, 5th Marines, often known as 3/5 or Darkhorse, sustained a disproportionate number of casualties. In the previous 10 years, no other Marine unit sustained more losses than Darkhorse.
