But there’s a reason you haven’t seen Cameron Diaz in recent years: she hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2017.
In recent interviews, Diaz explained why she has no regrets about abandoning her career but also why she decided to return for one more job.

In the 2010s, her career was still thriving: she was the highest-paid Hollywood actress over 40 in 2013, and she appeared in three films in 2014: The Other Woman, Sex Tape, and Annie.
Diaz, on the other hand, vanished from film screens after that. While she was still a bankable star who might have landed significant roles in films and TV shows, she opted to quit Hollywood to devote her time to herself and her family.
Diaz is married to Benji Madden of Good Charlotte, and they welcomed their first child, a girl named Raddix, via surrogacy in 2019.
“I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life,” Cameron Diaz said last year in an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow. “I’d been working so hard for so long, making films, and it’s such a grind.” “I didn’t make much space for my personal life.”
Diaz has claimed in interviews that she does not miss the hectic schedule that comes with being a movie star.

Diaz will return for a new film titled Back in Action, starring Jamie Foxx, as reported last year. Diaz’s first new picture since 2014’s Annie will be released this year on Netflix.
Diaz and Foxx have worked together on multiple films, including Any Given Sunday and Annie, and Diaz couldn’t pass up the opportunity to re-team with her former co-star.
“I took the time, I met my husband, we got married, we built our family, we built our homes—all those things that take a lot of focus,” Diaz was cited by Rachel Ray as stating. “That is still my top priority.” I wasn’t sure whether I could manage both at the time, but it ended up being a really positive thing for my family right now.”
Diaz’s return to Hollywood is only temporary, according to sources, and she will leave when Back in Action wraps production.
“These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her, and she hates being away from Raddix,” a source close to the situation said. “Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.”
