In August, the devastating impact of Hurricane Harvey was felt across Southern Texas, leaving destruction in its wake. With over 50 lives lost, hundreds of thousands displaced, and communities demolished, the rebuilding process is expected to take years.
Amid this crisis, people from all walks of life rallied together to offer support—ordinary citizens, volunteers, companies, and non-profit organizations. Among them was Sake Sushi Bar and Lounge, owned by Phe Nguyen and Binh Nguyen in Port Arthur, Texas.

Witnessing the disaster unfolding, the restaurant owners knew they wanted to contribute to their community. Day and night, they dedicated themselves to preparing meals at Sake Sushi Bar and Lounge, aiming to provide delicious food for hurricane victims. In just one day, they managed to create thousands of food boxes.

Despite their significant efforts, the media didn’t give them the attention they deserved. Unfazed by the lack of recognition, the restaurant owners were not seeking praise.
Phe Nguyen’s son, Keith, believed that his father and co-workers deserved acknowledgment for their selfless work. In a Facebook post, he shared the story of their efforts, urging people to support these hardworking individuals or share their good deeds on social media.

The post had a remarkable impact, surpassing 444,000 shares and accumulating over a million interactions. Users expressed their gratitude, with one stating, “Words cannot describe our gratitude and thanks for your great deed. We are all united!”
