Husband makes pregnant wife work a lot and do all house chores—family finds out on Thanksgiving…

On Reddit, a 24-year-old woman shared a concerning narrative about her 32-year-old sister and her 38-year-old husband. Despite the demanding nature of her sister’s job, the husband contributed minimally to household chores, leaving her to manage their four children (ages 10, 8, 5, and 3) while pregnant with their fifth child.

The woman was taken aback by her sister’s daily routine, waking up at 4 a.m. to handle breakfast, chores, and getting the kids ready for school, while her husband, who earned less despite her sister’s higher income, stayed home, played video games, and worked remotely.

During a six-week stay at her sister’s house due to home renovations, the woman and her 26-year-old fiancé stepped in to assist with household tasks and drove her to doctor’s appointments, offering much-needed relief. In contrast, the husband portrayed himself as a dedicated father only when family was around, presenting a facade of hard work and religiosity.

Despite her sister’s desire to stop having children, the husband insisted on having more boys, raising concerns about the well-being of the children. The oldest child, becoming aware of the situation, tried to help but was refused by the sister due to pride.

The woman had a long-standing discord with her brother-in-law, and his behavior persisted over the years. Despite discussions about leaving, the sister hesitated to consider divorce, fearing her children growing up in a broken home and holding onto the belief in the importance of keeping both parents together.

Tensions escalated during a pre-Thanksgiving potluck hosted by the sister and brother-in-law when the woman confronted him about his lack of support, making him visibly uncomfortable. Despite the sister’s gratitude, the brother-in-law accused her of causing family strife, blaming her for the family’s negative reaction.
