In 1965, Paul Harvey broadcast this message. Today, it has regrettably come true…

At the height of his career, Paul Harvey, a news commentator and talk radio pioneer whose staccato manner made him one of the most recognizable voices in the United States, had over 24 million listeners.

Although he was spot on with what he said, no one could have predicted that his famous comments from 54 years ago would become a reality today.

I read this today and felt it was pertinent.

Paul Harvey, the famed ABC Radio analyst, broadcast the speech on April 3, 1965.

He begins his ‘prophesy’ by saying, If I were the Devil…, and then proceeds to examine the difficulties that we are now facing.

Everyone should listen to this. Regrettably, Paul Harvey was right fifty-four years ago.

“If I were the Devil…” If I were the Prince of Darkness, I would wish to cover the entire planet in darkness.

I’d have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its people, but I wouldn’t be satisfied until I’d grabbed the ripest apple off the tree.
So I should take whatever steps are required to control the United States.

I would start with a campaign of whispers.
With the intelligence of a serpent, I would say to you what I murmured to Eve: “Do as you please.”

To the children, I would murmur, “The Bible is a myth.” I’d convince them that “man created God,” rather than the other way around. I’d admit that “what is bad is good, and what is good is square.”

I would murmur to the newlyweds that work is demeaning, but cocktail parties are beneficial. I would advise them not to be “extreme” in religion, patriotism, or moral behavior.

And I would instruct the elderly to pray, saying after me, “Our father, who is in Washington.”
Then I would become organized.

I’d teach authors how to make filthy literature thrilling, so that everything else appears dull and uninteresting.
I would threaten television with filthy movies, and vice versa.
I’d infiltrate unions and advocate for more leisure time rather than more employment. I normally do well with idle hands.

I would market opiates to anyone, sell wine to distinguished ladies and gentlemen, and tranquilize the rest with pills.
If I were the Devil, I would push schools to develop young intellects while neglecting to regulate emotions, letting them run wild.
I’d nominate an atheist to represent me in front of the highest courts, and preachers would say, “She’s right.”

With flattery and promises of power, I would persuade the judges to vote against God and in favor of pornography.

Thus, I would banish God from the courts, the schools, and the Houses of Congress.

Then, in his churches, I’d replace psychology with religion and worship science.

If I were Satan, I would produce Easter eggs and Christmas bottles.

If I were the Devil, I’d steal from those who have and give to those who want, until I’d destroyed the incentive of the ambitious. Then, my police state would order everyone back to work.

Then I’d split families, placing children in uniform, women in coal mines, and objectors in slave-labor camps.

If I were Satan, I’d just keep doing what I’m doing, and the whole world would go to hell, just like the Devil.”

I used to listen to Paul Harvey with my mother in the 1970s. He is quite correct in whatever he says. Everything he stated 54 years ago is still true today!

Incredible dude. Incredible understanding. Share if you agree.
