Allison Holker is correcting the misinformation.
Following the death of her late husband, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, speculations circulated that he and Ellen DeGeneres had grown apart following the finale of the Ellen DeGeneres program in May 2022.
In a recent cover interview with PEOPLE, Holker, whose new memoir, This Far (out Feb. 4), describes her traumatic background, love story with Boss, and how she and her children are recovering after his death, shot down the rumors.
“I don’t love when I see rumors flying around, and it was really disappointing for me to see that people tried bringing Ellen to the situation and targeting her,” Holker, who is 36, adds.

“It was not true,” she adds. “Ellen is fantastic, and she has just served as a support system. If anything, she set a terrific example for Stephen. He enjoyed his relationship with her. They had something very special. I hope people understand that the link is something we should not break.”
Two months after Boss’s death, DeGeneres, Derek Hough, Robin Antin, Loni Love, and other So You Think You Can Dance and Ellen DeGeneres Show cast and crew met in Los Angeles for an emotional celebration of his life.
Guests were given “Move with Kindness” wristbands and encouraged to donate to the Move with Kindness Foundation, which Holker founded to promote mental health programs in Stephen’s memory.

On the second anniversary of his passing in December, DeGeneres, 67, paid homage to Boss, who became a regular presence on her program after winning a stint as a guest DJ in 2014 before taking on his co-executive producer post in 2020, via Instagram.
“Wherever I am, I feel you with me,” DeGeneres wrote with a solemn photo of a tree-lined field. “I love you, Twitch.”
