Fred Parris penned the song “In the Still of the Night,” which his band Five Satins recorded. It was a minor hit when it first came out, but it has since grown in popularity and is now recognized as one of the finest doo-wop songs of all time. Numerous musicians have covered it, including Debbie Gibson and Boyz II Men. It has also appeared in a lot of movies.

Parris composed this treasure in the basement of a local church in 1955. We may view a live clip from the film Sweet Beat in the video below. After being released on the 1987 “Dirty Dancing” album, the song grew in popularity. In the end, the Rolling Stones ranked the song at number 90 on their 2010 list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
