A man kept hearing strange noises under the driveway, and look what he found inside

When Simon Marks, 37, noticed his car’s wheels were stuck in a hole, he assumed he had driven into a flowerbed.

“Well, this day couldn’t get any worse,” he thought, looking at the damage he’d caused to his car. He was ready to investigate the damage more attentively when he heard a terrifying sound that made his heart race. What on Earth was that?

Watch the shelter tour:

Simon saw that the driveway’s pavers had cracked as he bent down to take a closer look, and the driveway began to give way in front of him.

When the pavers continued to crackle, a whole new perspective emerged.

The ground collapsed easily, revealing a metal chunk beneath.

He exposed his body and grasped it with his bare hands. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to break free.

He decided to investigate the location and uncover as much of the mystery surrounding an unusual object as he could.

Simon called out for aid. When his father came, the two of them dragged away buckets of compacted muck.

When they discovered an opening, they climbed down an antique, rusted ladder to investigate the hole in the earth.

Simon responded, “My dad saw it and knew right away that it was an air raid shelter.” “After searching on Google, we discovered that there are many in this area.”

Simon discovered through extensive web research that the shelter dates back to WWII! Simon told the media, “The previous owner must have known it was there, and when he built the house and put a garden in… he must have filled it in.”

Sir John Anderson was tasked with devising a strategy to protect its population from the bombs and assault that were expected during World War II.

His goal was to build the underground fortifications.

Bricks have cemented the wall into place. Though we don’t know, I’m 90% sure we won’t find any more rooms. When the house was built, they may have bricked up a wall to make way for the foundation.

Simon spoke to the media. He went on, “If that’s the case, we’ll just have to leave it.” However, the discovery quickly became widely recognized.

Simon and his father aim to preserve and renovate the shelter in the hopes that it may one day be recognized as an important historical site.

They argue that the time should not be forgotten, even if the struggle is long over.

They hope that visitors will be able to see this tiny tangible reminder of those tough times and gain a quick summary of that period in history.
