Liv Tyler has opened up about the ’emotional’ moment she learned Steven Tyler was her father after seeing her sister for the first time during a performance.

While you may meet someone who may become your future spouse at a performance, you do not anticipate running into your sister for the first time.

In an episode of the iHeart radio program, Sibling Revelry, Tyler and her younger sister Mia shared an emotional moment when they realized they were sisters, which drove Tyler to explore more about her original father.

The two are half-siblings and have the same father, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, but their upbringings couldn’t have been more different.

Mia described the fantastic moment they met, saying, “I remember there were no kids backstage.” So we partied hard that night. And we were in this VIP area, outside of the green rooms, just doing our eight- and nine-year-old thing, when this fan lady came up and said, “Oh my gosh, you ladies are so cute. Are you guys sisters?

“The night she’s [Mia] referring to, Guns n’ Roses were opening for Aerosmith. It marked the commencement of their song ‘Welcome to the Jungle.’ We drove to the concert at Great Woods.

She became tearful as she stated, “We got tickets, we went to the audience, and we were standing, and Guns n’ Roses was playing, and I was so excited because I just loved Guns n’ Roses.”

And on the side of the stage, there was one female standing. “When Liv noticed Mia resembled her, her mother burst into tears and revealed the truth about her father.”

“It seemed as if we were dressed identically. We both had spiral perms and wore pink frosty lipstick. We were both wearing an Aerosmith concert t-shirt, black leggings, and Reebok high-top sneakers.

“I looked and said, ‘Wait, that’s me.'” It was pretty strange. “It was like looking in the mirror and seeing double,” she explained.

“When I glanced at my mother, she immediately started weeping. My mother was sobbing, and when I asked, ‘Is Steven my father?’ she broke down. She brought me to a seat at an outdoor amphitheater, where we sat, and she told me the entire tale in the most genuine, lovely way.”

Liv and Mia grew up in distinct corners of the world with their moms, Bebe Buell and Cyrinda Foxe.

But they are finally together.
