Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness have begun dividing their real estate assets as they divorce.
Property documents examined by PEOPLE indicate that an LLC affiliated with Furness paid $11.7 million to the LLC used by the couple to purchase their spectacular New York City penthouse jointly in 2022 for a reputed $21 million. Furness seems to have compensated Jackman for his share of the property, effectively buying him out, as the mansion’s current valuation hovers around $23 million.
According to the paperwork, the transaction took place on May 25, two days before Furness formally filed for divorce after 27 years of marriage on May 27. The Real Deal was the first to report the news.

The luxurious condo in a starchitect-designed building in Manhattan’s Chelsea area measures roughly 5,000 square feet divided across two stories, with an additional 3,700 square feet of outdoor space. It is located near the Hudson River in a district recognized for its striking façade and celebrity occupants.
The spread is only one of the former couple’s stunning estates. Throughout their marriage, Furness and Jackman purchased houses all around the world, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, and their native Australia.
They appear to now possess a riverfront penthouse overlooking Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach, a second apartment in New York City’s West Village, and a Hamptons beach property.
The pair met on the set of the Australian television series Correlli in 1995, and they married on April 11, 1996. They adopted their son Oscar, 24, in 2000 and their daughter Ava, 19, in 2005.
They formally announced their breakup in September 2023, telling PEOPLE in an exclusive statement that “family has been and will always be our highest priority.”

“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they informed us. “Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
Furness filed for divorce more than a year and a half after their separation announcement. In May, she made a candid speech regarding “betrayal” and the “breakdown” of her marriage.
“My heart and sympathies go out to everyone who has been through the horrific experience of betrayal. It’s a profound pain that cuts deep,” she wrote in a statement released to PEOPLE and initially published with The Daily Mail, adding, “However, I believe in a higher force and that God, the cosmos, or whatever you refer to as your direction, is constantly working for us.”
That notion, she claimed, “helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.”

An unidentified insider informed The Daily Mail on Wednesday, May 28, that Furness’ statements surprised Jackman and “extremely disappointed” him. According to the insider, “there was an unwritten understanding that she would not trash him to the press,” and Jackman “knows that he cannot change anything.”
As of May 30, they had struck an arrangement to share their reputed $387 million wealth, according to the Mail. Her divorce documents showed that the conditions of their divorce were uncontested and required just a judge’s approval.
