Though Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are no longer engaged, they have transitioned to a coparenting partnership centered on their daughter.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday, July 3, representatives for the pop diva, 40, and the actor, 48, announced the couple’s breakup and explained how they intend to go ahead as a family.

“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” according to a statement. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter [Daisy Dove, 4½] with love, stability, and mutual respect.”

PEOPLE revealed late last month that the couple had called off their engagement after nine years of on-and-off dating and six years after Bloom proposed.

Since then, the actor has shared statements on social media about a “new beginning,” as well as quotes from Swiss psychiatrist and psychologist Carl Jung about “loneliness” and “sadness.”

Meanwhile, Perry made an emotional return to the stage at her Lifetime stop in Adelaide, Australia, and appeared to be fighting back emotions as she completed that leg of the tour.

“Thank you for always being there for me, Australia.” Before embarking on her 2010 song “Firework,” she assured the fans, “It means everything.” Perry later shared a series of pictures showing her enjoying herself around the continent.

On July 1, a source revealed to PEOPLE that the former couple had been experiencing extreme stress in the months preceding their breakup.
