Be ready, people, because this is almost too damn cute to take.
Making an emergency call to 911 when a father is experiencing breathing difficulties and chest pains is always unsettling. Fortunately, though, a conversation between the father’s 5-year-old daughter and 911 operator Jason Bonham ended up being more comical than terrifying. If you haven’t already, you should listen to the recording that has gone viral numerous times since 2010. It is utterly timeless.
Savannah, the father of an Indiana man who was unable to speak while using his cell phone to contact 911, answered the call. The intelligent 5-year-old skillfully responded to Bonham’s questions while maintaining an astonishingly composed, cool-headed demeanor. She even offered some humorous commentary of her own.
At Bonham’s request, she unlocked the front entrance to allow the rescue crew entry. They described their dog, Lou Lou, as “small” and “barks a lot,” yet they also described her as “friendly.” Her father might have been having a heart attack, but she comforted him by saying, “Don’t worry, Dad,” and “Stay calm, Dad.” Furthermore, she informed the dispatcher of developments by frequently noting, “So far, so good.”
The cherry on top was Savannah’s admission to Bonham that she and her father were still dressed in their “jammies” and that she would need to change. “I don’t know what I’m going to wear, but… he really needs oxygen, and he needs it fast.”
Five years is outdated. This child truly is extraordinary. Keep an eye on: Bonham expressed his surprise at Savannah’s handling of the call. He told Eyewitness News, “Most people are hysterical when you talk to them.” “Every time I listen to it, it’s incredible.” She is merely a small person.”
Fortunately, Savannah’s dad’s situation worked out quite well despite the panic. Her mother wrote on Facebook after the tale went viral, saying, “We feel incredibly fortunate and thankful that Savannah’s 911 call is still being shared.” It adds value to the entire evening. The more adults who teach kids what to do and the greater awareness it raises, the better.”
Parents, you did a great job teaching that child. She was remarkable.
