Samuel L. Jackson stated he doesn’t remember precisely how he met his wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, since he “was on drugs” at the time.
Jackson and LaTanya are one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting celebrity couples. The couple, both actors, have been married for 42 years and have been together for almost 50 years. In August, they will mark their 43rd wedding anniversary.
On Monday’s edition of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Jackson, 74, was asked how he proposed to his wife and told two anecdotes.
“My story was that I came home one day and she already had these invitations printed up, so she gave me a stack and said, ‘Be here,'” the Marvel actor explained. “She said, “No, that’s not what happened.'”

According to LaTanya’s account, Jackson remarked, “I actually had to go and talk to her grandfather because he told her he wanted to walk it down the aisle before he died.” So I went up to him and asked for her hand or whatever.
“And that’s probably what occurred since I was high and had no idea what was going on in my life. So she’s probably correct, but I like my version. It sounds like a lot of fun.”
Jackson was last asked about his engagement to LaTanya during a joint interview with his wife on a 2020 episode of “The Graham Norton Show.”
LaTanya emphasized when Jackson presented his side of the story that her grandfather was “very ill” and wanted to see the last of his grandkids marry before he died.
On Monday’s edition of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Jackson reminisced that the couple’s wedding was “big, big, big, big” since his wife had 23 bridesmaids.
“The problem was she had 23 bridesmaids, and I didn’t have 23 friends,” recounted the “Shaft” actor. “I asked my friends, and then I asked their friends if they were doing anything.” We met on a Monday since we both worked.”
Samuel and LaTanya have one child together, Zoe Jackson, a reality show producer who has won an Emmy.
