Where is ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ star Max Baer Jr. today?

Max Baer Jr. is the last living cast member of The Beverly Hillbillies, which has been off the air for more than 50 years. The actor who played “Jethro Bodine” is now in his 80s and has taken some time off from performing. Here is an overview of Baer’s recent activities:

Just over 50 years have passed since The Beverly Hillbillies’ last season in 1971.

Since then, almost all of the cast members of the adored comedy have had to bid their fans farewell. One original Beverly Hillbilly, however—actor Max Baer Jr. from “Jethro Bodine”—remains in existence today.

Baer began working on The Beverly Hillbillies in his late 20s and is now 84 years old. He only got a few more parts after the sitcom before giving up acting in the 1990s.

His final acting credit in 1991 was on the TV shows Murder, She Wrote, Fantasy Island, and Matt Houston, among others. Baer’s part in The Beverly Hillbillies defined his career, but he also believed that it hurt the remainder of his work.

Baer started transitioning into business activity, including his Beverly Hillbillies days in the 1980s. He acquired the rights to the name of his old television program and spent years experimenting with gaming and goods.

He even made an attempt to construct a Jethro’s Casino in the 2000s. The project was last updated on Baer’s official website in 2012, but following legal disputes, it was never completed.

Since then, Baer has gained notoriety for his 2014 lawsuit against Iowa eatery Jethro’s BBQ for allegedly violating his rights to his Beverly Hillbillies persona. In 2017, his case was mostly thrown out.
