Hugh Jackman has addressed the news that he and Deborra-Lee Furness are divorcing for the first time on camera

The couple had been married for 27 years when they announced their separation, claiming the desire to seek “individual growth.”

They met on the set of the TV program Corelli in 1995 and married in 1996. They have two children, ages 23 and 18, whom they adopted jointly.

In a statement released by People, Jackman and Furness confirmed their separation.

“We have been blessed to share nearly three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the statement said. Our path has changed, and we have decided to part ways to pursue our own growth.

“Our family has always been and will always be our top priority.” With thanks, love, and kindness, we embark on the next chapter. We appreciate your consideration for our privacy while our family navigates this adjustment in all of our lives.”

It ended, “This is the sole statement either of us will make.”

On camera, Jackman spoke briefly about his divorce.

While conversing with a paparazzi member, the X-Men and The Greatest Showman star revealed that his divorce had been a “difficult time,” but he didn’t go into any further detail.

He was also questioned about whether development on Deadpool 3 would continue. Work on the film was delayed owing to continuous strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA.

The actor stated that production on the film would resume as soon as possible.

Jackman previously revealed how he knew Furness was the one for him just a few weeks after they met.

“I get picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car,” Hugh, 54, previously told People magazine. I’ll never forget that. She unbuckled her seatbelt, turned around, extended her hand, removed her sunglasses, and said, ‘Hi, I’m Deborra-lee Furness; glad to meet you.'” I remember thinking to myself, ‘I like this girl.'”

Just four months later, Jackman proposed to Furness at Melbourne’s Botanical Gardens, asking her to marry him.

The pair’s most recent red carpet outing was at the Met Gala. In July, they were seen watching Carlos Alcaraz play Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon.
