Jessica Chastain has spoken out in support of Sophie Turner, who is going through a divorce and filing for divorce against her ex-husband Joe Jonas

According to legal documents acquired by Page Six, Chastain, 46, turned to social media to express her support for the Game of Thrones actor, who is suing Jonas, 34, in order for his two girls to return to England.

Yesterday (September 22), the Help actor reacted to a tweet regarding Jonas’ “manipulation.”

“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the ex-couple said in a joint Instagram post earlier this month.

“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but this is truly a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for ourselves and our children.”

Jonas filed for divorce in Miami Dade County Court on September 5th, claiming that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”

It further claimed that while their children have been living with Jonas in Miami and other places most recently, ‘it is in the best interests of the younger children that the parties have shared parental responsibilities’.

Turner is now suing Jonas for the return of their two children, according to Page Six.

Turner alleged in court filings that Jonas has been keeping their daughters’ passports from them, with the complaint stating: “The Father has possession of the children’s passports.” He refuses to release the passports to the mother and will not send the children back to England with her.”

“After multiple conversations with Sophie, Joe initiated divorce proceedings in Florida, as Florida is the appropriate jurisdiction for the case,” a spokeswoman for Jonas has now informed UNILAD. Sophie knew Joe was going to petition for divorce.

“The Florida Court has already entered an order prohibiting both parents from moving the children.” Sophie received this order on September 6, 2023, which was more than two weeks ago.

“Joe and Sophie had a pleasant meeting this past Sunday in New York when Sophie came to see the kids.

“Within 24 hours, Sophie informed me that she wanted to relocate the children permanently to the United Kingdom.”

“Following that, she demanded, via this filing, that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could immediately remove them from the country.” Joe will be in contempt of the Florida Court injunction if he complies.”

“Joe is seeking shared parenting with the children so that they are raised by both their mother and father and is, of course, fine with the children being raised in both the United States and the United Kingdom,” it read.

“This is an unfortunate legal dispute over a marriage that is sadly coming to an end.” When terms like ‘abduction’ are used, it is deceptive at best and a major misuse of the judicial system at worst. The kids were not kidnapped.

“The children are currently with their mother after being in Joe’s care for the past three months, at the agreement of both parties.” Sophie is making this claim only to have the divorce proceedings transferred to the United Kingdom and the children permanently removed from the United States.

“Joe has already denied any and all statements made on his behalf that were disparaging of Sophie.” They were produced without his consent and do not reflect his beliefs.”

On Friday (September 22), Chastain resorted to X, previously Twitter, to retweet a piece by writer and activist Roxane Gay.

“The way Joe Jonas miscalculated his popularity with his transparent attempts at PR manipulation, particularly when the North remembers,” Gay said in her tweet.

“And keeping the children’s passports from their mother?” Bruh… And the point is, none of these folks are people I know or follow. I just finished reading the ‘news’. He handled things so poorly that I’m now paying attention.”

Chastain repeated Gay’s original tweet from the day before, identifying and labeling her ‘The Oracle’ with a heart emoji.
