Upon the passing of our elder family members, many of us become recipients of their possessions. Typically, these inheritances consist of items like cash, jewelry, and maybe even real estate. However, it’s doubtful that many of us have received a time capsule of this scale and magnificence.
The American Reddit user, oktober75, inherited an old building along with other family members, surprising fellow users on the website by sharing pictures of their recent discoveries. The building housed a shoe business operational from the 1940s to the 1960s. Until recently, the store and all its contents had remained sealed off and buried.

To safeguard user privacy and prevent potential break-ins, the post did not disclose the store’s location. Nevertheless, the pictures reveal that despite their age, every pair of shoes in the store is in remarkably good condition. The shoes have retained much of their color and structure, even though they appear rather dusty.
The store boasts numerous well-known brands, including Converse. The shoes hold value today, and even the more traditional-looking styles could be considered stylish or vintage for contemporary wearers.

According to the blog Messy Nessy Chic, the store closed decades ago due to the grandmother’s illness, and the surviving family members couldn’t manage the business. Reddit user oktober75 mentioned, “I have no idea how profitable (the business) was, perhaps that was a factor (in why the store closed).” The poster also noted their grandparents’ penchant for hoarding, speculating that they believed the items would be valuable someday.
However, the poster added, “That day came and went.” They assert that eventually, the family will share more details about the store’s name and address. For now, though, we can only marvel at these incredible images.
