Kate Hudson, sporting 80s-inspired curly hairdo with face-framing bangs for new movie role, resembles her mother, Goldie Hawn

Kate Hudson is the exact image of her mother, Goldie Hawn!

The 46-year-old actress offered fans a sneak peek at her next film, Song Sung Blue, and her haircut is reminiscent of Hawn’s iconic feathery style.

Hudson appears with co-star Hugh Jackman in a still from the forthcoming film, which was published on Instagram on Tuesday. The two play a married couple who establish a Neil Diamond tribute band; Hudson stands behind a piano and sings into a microphone, while Jackman, 56, leans in next to her and sings into his own microphone.

Both are dressed in sequin-embellished costumes. The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress wears an ’80s-inspired curly hairdo with face-framing bangs, which bears a remarkable similarity to her mother, now 79, from the same decade.

In contrast, Jackman has long hair with dramatic sideburns.

Craig Brewer wrote and directed the film, which is based on both a true incident and Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary of the same name.

In her post on Instagram, Hudson wrote, “Loved every second making this beautiful film, working with the most lovely work husband you could ask for, @thehughjackman, singing the iconic songs of Neil Diamond, led by our wonderful director @mybrewtube ♥️”

She said, “More love notes for everyone involved to come…” But now I’m simply so pleased to share with you that we have a release date 💃 Song Sung Blue—exclusively in cinemas this Christmas 🎄🎁 🎵.”

Hudson released a deluxe edition of her first album, Glorious, in February, with the song “Right on Time” about her famous mother’s life and the struggles she encountered before being renowned.

In the lyrics of “Right on Time,” Hudson sings about Hawn traveling “a hundred miles to Baltimore in a busted Caddy with holes in the “floor,”—which is totally accurate, she told the Los Angeles Times.

“She used to wrap her feet because she had all these holes in the bottom of the Cadillac — it was her dad’s car — and so she wrapped her feet while she drove to dance class,” the reporter said. “When she’d get there, she’d have to thaw them out in warm water because they were frozen.”

Hudson was raised by her mother and Kurt Russell, Hawn’s companion of over 40 years.

In a 2024 PEOPLE cover story, the actress revealed the lesson she learned from them that has had a lasting influence on her.

“Their biggest value is their commitment to that unit. They’ve gone through everything together, and it’s incredible to witness how lovely their relationship has become, especially as they’ve grown older. ” It’s extremely loving and caring,” she added. “They’ve stuck to it. It’s like a really unusual Hollywood tale. They’ll be in it forever.” It is wild.”
