The MTV Movie Awards have seen many great moments on stage, but nearly 20 years ago, Jim Carrey performed a maneuver that earned him the title of “hero.”
Cameron Diaz seemed to be kissed against her will by artist Chris Isaak at the 1995 MTV Movie Awards, and a video of the event shows how uncomfortable the situation was, leaving viewers completely enraged.
However, an expanded version of the clip has recently shown none other than Jim Carrey from The Grinch swooping in to retaliate against Isaak.
The Truman Show star, Carrey, has received a plethora of praise for his noble actions in making Isaak pay for the suffering he appears to have caused Diaz.

In the original video, Isaak is seen wrapping his arm around Diaz as the two stand on stage to reveal the year’s ‘Best Kiss’ award.
Despite Diaz turning away and raising her arm to stop the musician, Isaak continues to move in and clutches her wrist.
Isaak then seems to violently kiss Diaz, remarking that he knew she would ‘come around.’
While it was unclear whether the kiss was choreographed or not, it provoked fury among social media users, as well as Carrey, as shown in the longer clip.
After receiving the ‘Best Kiss’ award with his Dumb and Dumber co-star Lauren Holly, Carrey seizes the chance to assist a fellow actor in need.
Carrey approaches Isaak and embraces him as soon as he ascends the stage’s stairs.
While it is unclear from the camera’s perspective if the couple snogged, Isaak can be seen cleaning his lips slightly when Carrey walks away, the singer appearing surprised and embarrassed.
Many admirers have theorized that Carrey did it ‘in retribution on [Diaz’s] behalf.’

The video was published on TikTok and has received over one million views, 100,000 likes, and several comments in support and admiration of Carrey’s response to Diaz’s plight.
One person responded, “Yesss. You can see his expression like, ‘Now look at meeee and this opportunityyyyyy standing there in front of meee’e.”
“You can see a smile on his face. He knew what he was about to do.” When they called his name,” another user remarked.
A third said, “I think he was more pleased about taking vengeance on her than collecting the honor!” I adore him for that.”
Finally, “And that is why Jim is the GOAT.”
