Chip and Joanna Gaines’ second child, Ella, is preparing to leave home!
The former HGTV stars celebrated their daughter Ella’s high school graduation by sharing rare family footage of the youngster on Instagram over the weekend.
Ella went across the stage to get her graduation in the video, which was synced to Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” as her family celebrated.
In addition to throwing their hats and streamers in the air, the high school graduates were treated to a fireworks show to commemorate the memorable occasion. Joanna posted her daughter’s graduation outfit, which included pointed red slingback shoes and a plaid dress, but did not display Ella’s face.

Ella and Joanna hugged on the high school football field, taking in the great occasion.
“So very proud,” the creator of Magnolia Network captioned the unique video.
The Sunday following graduation, Joanna shared another video of herself in the garden with her youngest son, Crew, and a brood of ducklings.
“A fun and hectic graduation weekend.” It’s hard to believe we’ll have two kids in college this August,” she wrote. “I’ll be soaking up this season the best I know how—starting with this summer bouquet from the garden. 💚”
Chip and Joanna have three boys, Drake (20), Duke (17), and Crew (6), as well as a daughter, Emmie (15). Their eldest four children were on the couple’s successful HGTV show Fixer Upper for years, but since the show’s finale in 2018, they have kept their children out of the spotlight.
“They’re so young, and we want to give them the chance to have a normal childhood,” Joanna told PEOPLE of her children in 2016.

Joanna told PEOPLE in 2019 that Ella’s interests are similar to her own. I believe she will follow in my footsteps by being involved in a variety of activities.”
Ella had previously assisted her mother with her thriving home renovation company. Joanna said that Ella worked as a temporary intern for her last summer while she and Chip took a break from the business to regroup.
“One of my favorite moments that was so pivotal for me as a mother, but also as a business owner, was that my daughter, my oldest daughter, was in on a lot of these conversations before our break in June that I was having with the team,” Joanna told the podcast company Home in April 2009. “She was interning with me, so she’d be in meetings where I’d say, ‘Y’all, I need vision. We must always remember the purpose of our actions. And so she listened and became fascinated.

Ella even stayed up late with her mother at the office.
“She was writing things while I was saying, ‘Okay, if we do this, if we do that,'” Joanna said at the time.
In October 2024, Chip posted a wonderful milestone moment with Ella on Instagram.
“Proud papa… #FirstTimeVoter,” he captioned a photo with his eldest daughter, hiding her face with the emoji of a blonde female. To commemorate the election, Chip and Ella wore “I Voted!” stickers.
Earlier last month, Chip confessed on the Today show that Ella broke his only prom night rule, which required her to be home by midnight.
“She blew past that,” Chip said. “So, what do you do? What do you do with an 18-year-old person who is now legally an adult? She may serve in the army if necessary, and now I’m emphasizing that she must return at noon.
