Shakira’s recent performance did not unfold as expected.
During her Tuesday, May 20 concert at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, the “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker had an incident on stage.
Shakira, who is presently on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour, can be seen slipping and falling on stage during a performance of her 2001 song “Whenever, Wherever,” filmed by a fan on X.
The 48-year-old “Waka Waka” performer was swaying on stage, about to begin singing the song’s first stanza, when she lost her balance, slid, and fell horizontally to the ground.
Shakira, on the other hand, rose up and completed her performance with grace.
Following the event, she revealed the tumble in an Instagram Stories post that has now expired, according to fan-captured footage on X.
Fans praised Shakira’s speedy return to the show following the tragedy.
“She handled it like the boss that she is,” one user on X said.
Another user on the network commented, “A fantastic example of resilience! I hope she did not sustain any injuries. Such falls result in aches and injuries the next morning.
“Mother,” another user simply typed on X.

Shakira’s fall in Montreal is not her first accident on her current tour.
In February, she had to reschedule one of her shows in Peru because she was hospitalized with an “abdominal issue.”
She was hospitalized on February 15 and released a statement the next day on Instagram Stories.
“I am sorry to inform you all that I had to go to the ER last night for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” she began the message, which was initially written in all capitals.
Her physicians advised her to cancel her February 16 engagement at Peru’s National Stadium, the first of two back-to-back shows in the capital city.
“I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today,” Shakira said, adding that she had “been excited to reunite with my incredible fans here in Peru.”
She subsequently said that she will be “well” enough to be released from the hospital and “able to perform” for her second Lima event on February 17.
Shakira subsequently informed supporters that her “team and promoters are already working on a new date to communicate with you.”
“Thank you all for your understanding, and I love you all,” she said.
Shakira launched her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour in Rio de Janeiro on February 11.
She will play in cities such as Boston, Toronto, Miami, Detroit, Houston, and San Diego before wrapping up the North American portion of the tour on June 30 in San Francisco.
