A 15-year-old contestant on America’s Got Talent thrilled the judges with her original country tune and has a younger sister with eye problems.
Kenadi Dodds is a teenage musician from Logan, Utah. She started singing when she was quite little. She began with her father playing guitar for her. These recollections inspired the 15-year-old’s passion for music.
When asked what prompted her to join America’s Got Talent, she told the tale of her younger sister.
Apparently, her sibling suffers from retinitis pigmentosa (RP). The National Eye Institute defines it as “a group of rare, genetic disorders that involve a breakdown and loss of cells in the retina—which is the light-sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eye.” As a result, a person with RP illness loses vision until they become completely blind. Kenadi is the only one in her family that is disease-free.
The young singer’s 9-year-old sister wanted to watch her perform on one of America’s largest stages. So she auditioned and worked hard to reach the AGT stage.”My sister said she wants to see me on the biggest stage before it’s too late,” she told me.
Kenadi sang her own country song, “One-Way Ticket To Tennessee.”
“It’s about all the encouragement my parents have given me to pursue my dream of becoming a country singer,” the young artist revealed. She also donned a wonderful costume, exactly as great country singers do.
As Kenadi started to sing and play her guitar, she left the judges in complete awe. Her well-written song, powerful voice, facial expression, and stage presence wowed the judges. She earned a standing ovation from all four judges.
Furthermore, Howie Mandel praised the young vocalist for abruptly shifting throughout her performance. Simon, the difficult judge, also said her voice was “authentic.”
As she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to sing on the AGT stage, Kenadi burst into tears. The judges gave her four yeses before she left the stage.
This young woman is incredibly inspirational.
