A father wanted to do research because he was curious as to why his daughter frequently stayed on the school bus after the other students had left. He wasn’t prepared for what he discovered…

A single father, Benjamin Bruce, had to take over as the mother of his child when she went away. Emily, their daughter, was six years old at the time.

Ben cherished his daughter because, to him, she represented the last of his cherished wives. He also cherished her because he had promised her that Emily would always be well cared for.

Ben did his best to balance work with being there in his daughter’s life in order to achieve this. He had to handle everything himself because he didn’t have any other family members he could rely on to take care of her.

His daughter started puberty during the first couple of difficult years as a father, and as he was getting used to the rollercoaster, things became even crazier.

Before his very eyes, she began to transform physically, and he immediately understood what they meant: the boys would be coming for her. How could they not? His kid had the red hair and mesmerizing green eyes of his late wife.

Even Ben was susceptible to her gaze and had often succumbed to her whims over the years. Emily first encountered guys when she was twelve, two years after she had reached puberty.

She became very conscious of her looks and hair as a result of wanting to impress her school crush. Ben was ready to use a stick to beat back males if necessary, but he wasn’t prepared to worry about his daughter’s appearance.

Since Emily was forced to do it alone, she was horrible at it and lacked a mentor. As a youngster, Ben frequently just chopped her hair short since he had little knowledge of hair maintenance, but as she grew older, he had to accept her requests to keep her hair longer.

When her hair was long enough, he began combing it for her, since there was nothing he would not do for his child. Although he attempted to be polite, the huge guy occasionally pulled a punch.

One day, she cried, “Ouch!”

He promptly said, “I’m sorry, baby,” like he usually does.

She would sometimes tell him, “You need to be more gentle, Dad.”

Sometimes she just put up with the discomfort since she didn’t want to blame her father for creating it. Every time his daughter moaned that her hair was being ripped out, Ben felt the pain of his failure and tried to cut her hair again.

He used to remark, “Just get rid of it all,” when they would debate over it. “Your mother maintained a short hairstyle and still looked fantastic.”

She would respond, “Daddy, I won’t cut my hair anymore; look how slow its growth is because of how often you cut it in the past.” Whatever the case, Ben never prevailed in the disputes, but he didn’t have to since they soon ceased to arise.

Soon after, he saw that Mrs. Flynn, his daughter’s classroom teacher, began issuing late notes to her students. To find out, he called the woman.

“You’re correct, Mr. Bruce. This week alone, your daughter has received five tardiness notices. Is there anything occurring that I should be aware of? She questioned him.

“Nothing is happening. Since things have been going well at home for a while, I do allow her to board the bus early to ensure that she arrives at school when others do, he said.

“Have you noticed anything different about her lately?” Ben enquired.

“Well, I once saw her get off the bus quite late, even though she was supposed to be in class by that point since I was running late for class. Since only they have access to the bus at any time, the driver is undoubtedly aware of it.

Ben informed Mrs. Flynn, “Thank you, Mrs. Flynn; I’ll get to the bottom of this,” and hung up.

Ben followed his daughter the next day because he was concerned about why she was spending so much time on a bus. As Mrs. Flynn had said, he saw that everyone on the bus got off when it reached the school grounds except for his daughter.

Ben rushed onto the bus as quickly as he could, expecting the worst, but instead found a kind 40-year-old woman brushing his daughter’s hair. The driver of the bus was a lady named Madeline.

When he suddenly entered, the woman said, “Mr. Bruce?” Emily glanced up, startled to see her father.

“Dad? Why are you in this place?

Ben cleared his throat and straightened himself, saying, “Hello ma’am.” Sorry for interrupting, but I came to check why I heard my daughter was receiving tardy warnings.

The woman pointed to his daughter’s hair and remarked, “Oh, well, in that case, here’s why.” She regularly complains that her rough hair makes her feel awful, so I volunteered to help her brush it every day before she goes to class after noticing how difficult it looked for her to do it.

Ben addressed his daughter as “Honey.” “You’ve never told me this.”

“I just didn’t want you to worry about it,” Emily explained.

Ben invited Madeline to coffee later that day. The bus driver’s wife broke down in tears when she learned what had happened to him.

She knew how fortunate she was to have survived and was happy that she could still be present for her own kids despite having battled cancer.

Madeline pushed Ben to find a solution that would benefit his daughter since she was sure that she lived for the children on the bus who needed someone to chat with, fix their hair for, or whatever else.

Ben explained the situation to Mrs. Flynn, Emily’s teacher, and as a result, Emily was never given another tardy notice. Ben was appreciative of Madeline, and they stayed close for a very long period of time.

Never make hasty judgments. Ben caused himself a scare when he thought right away that the bus driver and his child were engaging in immoral activity, and if he hadn’t taken the trouble to check, things would have taken a horrible turn.

Anytime you can, give back. He was saved from death, in Madeline’s opinion, so that she might care for other children, which she did. Her act of service to those children made her feel good, especially because she was able to make a difference in the lives of people like Emily and Ben.
