In a touching tale from 2017, Mary Grams of Alberta, Canada, experienced a heartwarming reunion with her long-lost engagement ring, which turned up wrapped around a carrot in her garden. This incredible discovery came nearly 13 years after Mary had resigned herself to never seeing her cherished ring again.
Back in 2004, Mary lost her engagement ring while tending to weeds on her family’s farm. Despite searching tirelessly for days, she couldn’t locate it. Little did she know, fate had a surprise in store for her.

The discovery happened when Mary’s daughter-in-law plucked an odd-looking carrot from the garden, only to find Mary’s engagement ring snugly wrapped around its root. It was a moment of sheer joy and disbelief for Mary and her family.
Recalling the day she lost the ring, Mary said, “I went to the garden for something and I saw this long weed. For some reason, I picked it up and it must have caught on something and pulled [the ring] off.” She had worn the ring since 1951, a year before marrying her husband, Norman. Despite their efforts to find it, they assumed it was gone forever.

To avoid upsetting her husband, Mary kept the loss a secret and bought herself a similar-looking ring. “I didn’t tell him because I thought for sure he’d give me heck or something,” she shared. It remained a sentimental secret for over 13 years.
Despite moving away from the farm, Mary’s family still tended to the garden, a cherished part of their history spanning over 105 years. When Mary’s daughter-in-law, Colleen Daley, found the ring, she suspected it belonged to either her grandmother or her mother-in-law. Her husband confirmed it was indeed Mary’s long-lost engagement ring.

The ring’s entwining with the carrot was both intriguing and unique. Daley described it as “pretty weird-looking” and “quite interesting,” a remarkable sight and testament to nature’s power.
Mary was elated to have her engagement ring back after all those years. She plans to wear it proudly, cherishing the memories it holds. Although her husband passed away over five years ago, this discovery brings back cherished memories of their 60-year marriage.

This heartwarming tale reminds us that sometimes, against all odds, lost treasures find their way back to us. Like Mary, we should never lose hope and always believe in love and serendipity.
