After seven years of being missing, a woman was located when her ‘blood-curdling screams’ guided the police to the motel where she was staying

Michigan State Police have officially confirmed the discovery of a woman, suspected to be a victim of sex trafficking, at the Evergreen Motel in Michigan earlier this week. The woman, whose identity is being withheld, managed to reach out to her stepmother after having gone missing in 2017, revealing that she was being held against her will.

Her rescue was prompted by ‘blood-curdling screams,’ and upon investigation, troopers found her locked in the Evergreen Motel in Inkster, located approximately 32 kilometers from Detroit and 135 kilometers from Lansing. This suburban area of Detroit has a population of around 25,700 residents.

Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw revealed that the cries led them to the specific location. After breaking down the door, law enforcement found the woman alone in the room, accompanied by guns, a cell phone, and firearms.

Physically unharmed, the woman was taken to Beaumont Dearborn Hospital and has since been reunited with her family, undergoing specialized counseling therapies. She is now cooperating with the ongoing investigation, providing details to detectives specializing in active human trafficking and missing persons cases.

Lt. Mike Shaw emphasized the need to explore all possibilities in the ongoing investigation, considering potential crimes such as human trafficking, domestic violence, or situations that may have started as a relationship but evolved into being held against her will and human trafficking.

The identity of the woman, believed to be in her mid-thirties, is being kept confidential due to the nature of the potential crime. While a suspect has been identified, no arrests have been made at this time. Lt. Mike Shaw stressed the importance of considering all avenues in the ongoing inquiry.
