We enjoy watching individuals assist animals. It’s a thankless profession since animals seldom express gratitude for a good deed.

However, some animals have a wonderful way of expressing “thank you” to their rescuers, such as one kangaroo who offered the guys who saved him a handshake.

According to the Daily Mail Australia, a guy called David Boyd witnessed a kangaroo on Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin. According to reports, the water was frigid, and the animal could not escape.

However, two courageous spectators risked the frigid waters to assist the roo.

The men approach slowly so as not to scare the kangaroo. When they reach near enough to grab its arms and take it to safety, the kangaroo begins flailing its arms.

Undaunted, the guys seize the animal and lead it out of the river.

A third guy assists in lifting the kangaroo onto dry land and keeping the terrified and trembling animal quiet.

Kangaroos, despite their benign appearance, may be violent if they feel threatened. Their defenses include a boxer-like punch, sharp claws, and a kick that scientists believe may disembowel a man.

Fortunately, this kangaroo seemed to realize that these men were there to assist, and, at a touching moment, he extended his paw as if to shake hands.

“Aw, he’s thanking you,” said the man filming the rescue.
According to the Daily Mail Australia, the kangaroo was in “shock,” and required a half-hour to calm down.

However, according to the Courier Mail, observers say the kangaroo ultimately hopped along on its own, presumably unhurt by the encounter.
