The group’s last remaining member issued a poignant message in response to the deaths.
A plane transporting the Nelons, a well-known and beloved gospel family in the United States, crashed, killing everyone on board.
The horrible catastrophe killed seven individuals, including Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, and Nathan Kistler, their son-in-law.
Melanie Hodges, who worked for the family, as well as Larry Haynie, a pilot, and his wife Melissa, died.
That individual, Autumn Nelon Streetman, was not on the plane at the time.
When their jet crashed over Wyoming, band members were on their way to Alaska for the Gaither Homecoming Cruise.
According to reports, the jet crashed into the ground in flames, prompting firefighters and other emergency personnel to hurry to the area as a wildfire erupted.
The Wyoming sheriff’s office said that no one survived.
Autumn Nelon Streetman issued a statement regarding the accident, saying, “As many of you know by now, my parents, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with my sister Amber, brother-in-law Nathan, and our dear friends Melodi Hodges, Larry, and Melissa Haynie, were in a terrible plane crash on Friday.”
Thank you for all of your prayers for me, my husband Jamie, our soon-to-be-born son, and Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark.
“Your prayers, love, and support will carry us over the next several days. “Thank you.”
A video captured moments before they boarded the plane that would crash shows Jason happy as he talks to his family and the pilot at a Nebraska airport.
According to FlightAware.com, Haynie Enterprises owned the Pilatus PC-12/47E.
The National Transportation Safety Board will now investigate the tragedy.
The Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame inducted The Nelons in 2016. Many consider them to be among the most influential families in US gospel history.
Their most popular songs are I Shall Not Be Moved, Come Morning, and We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown.
Over their career, they have also received three Grammy nominations.
