Have you ever thought about what a genuine gesture of love means? Perhaps it is about giving something material; for others, it is about spending time with that particular someone without expecting anything in return.
However, few people consider doing an act of love with the intention of benefiting someone other than their immediate family or close friends.
Although homeless individuals and stray dogs might affect us and leave us with sorrowful hearts, we rarely take action. One act of compassion can permanently change their lives.
On the street, a homeless youngster clings to his pet in order to keep warm and show affection.
Unfortunately, there are still a large number of street children who spend their days traveling from one spot to another, working miracles to get enough food.
Recently, a photo of a homeless youngster sleeping and hugging his puppy, who has become his loyal companion and sole family, went viral.
Users on the networks urge the Department of Protection for Minors to act immediately.
The somber photos depict two little individuals, so distinct but both fragile.
Unfortunately, his helpless situation does not appear to disturb anyone, as numerous people pass by unconcerned, ignoring the fact that two individuals are screaming out for aid on the ground. Perhaps they didn’t want to observe or see beyond their noses.
Uncertainty surrounds whether his parents abandoned him or left him orphaned.
Until now, all we know is that he sleeps with his pet on the street outside Manila’s principal train station. Despite all that has happened, this tiny child has not abandoned his pet, demonstrating their incredible attachment and the true meaning of love.
Jem Villomo, a young man who lives in the city, took the images and posted them on his Facebook page in the hopes of raising awareness and getting them all the help they deserve. In this context, he states:
“The youngster lives on the street with his dog. He doesn’t ask for money, just food for both of them.”
Regrettably, similar incidents have recurred throughout history. Let us remember Rommen Quemenales, another 11-year-old child who lives on the streets and finds his greatest comfort in a dog.
These stories not only infuriate us but also demonstrate a lack of empathy in not taking action to provide these children and their pets with the life they deserve.
Although the Department of Social Welfare and Development is responsible for children in the Philippines, no significant changes have yet occurred.
Rommen Quemenales is also from the Philippines, and he has only one pet, Badgi.
The greatest certainty is that this youngster has a dog as his only family; they sleep in one another’s arms, hoping to wake up and discover someone who will transform their lives.
Despite their challenging circumstances, they only have each other to show them genuine, reciprocated love.
