Angelina Jolie explains why she wants to leave: ‘Hollywood is not a healthy place’

Angelina Jolie discussed the present condition of Hollywood and whether it is worthwhile for a woman to enter the film business in 2023. If she were to do it all over again and choose a professional path as a young performer in 2023, Jolie says she would not join the ranks of Hollywood actors and actresses.

She told the Wall Street Journal that much of her reluctance stems from the continual media presence and scrutiny from admirers all around the world. The phenomenon that makes Jolie feel like a fish in an aquarium has only grown in recent years with the introduction of social media applications like Instagram, X, and TikTok.

Angelina Jolie seemed to be the most concerned about her privacy, as she stated to Fox News Digital, “I wouldn’t be an actress today.” When I first started out, there wasn’t as much pressure to be as open and reveal so much.” That hesitancy is striking, especially coming from such a well-known celebrity as Jolie.

Jon Voight, Jolie’s father, nurtured her in the spotlight, and she rapidly gravitated toward a life of acting like her parents. Jolie rapidly became a popular figure in tabloids and shows like TMZ after gaining momentum in the Hollywood industry. However, in this day and age, when everyone has a camera in their pocket, she is more in the limelight than ever.

The scrutiny that she has faced as a member of the film business has taken its toll on the actress in ways that she never expected and that many did not anticipate. “My body reacts very strongly to stress,” she stated of the health effects of such persistent stress. My blood sugar levels fluctuate. Six months before my divorce, I had Bell’s palsy.”

Of course, Jolie was referring to her high-profile divorce from fellow celebrity Brad Pitt, which stunned the Hollywood industry when the pair of mega-stars discovered their marriage was irreversibly damaged as they squared off in court battles.

Jolie also discussed her closest friends, stating that most of them are refugees and survivors of conflicts or fights that have given them incredible fortitude. “There’s a reason people who have been through adversity are also much more honest and much more connected, and I am more relaxed with them,” she explained. Why do I enjoy spending time with refugees and those who have survived? They’ve been through so much in their lives that it brings forth not only strength but humanity.”

Jolie ended the conversation by proclaiming her intention to leave Hollywood, a city she no longer praises. “It’s part of what happened after my divorce,” she explained. I no longer have the freedom to live and travel freely. I will relocate as soon as I am able. I was raised in a really superficial environment. Hollywood, of all locations in the world, is not a healthy place. As a result, you want authenticity.”
