Blake Lively, the Upper East Side’s and beyond’s golden girl, has inspired many a fashion moment over the years. During her recent New York Fashion Week appearance, though, she took styling cues from another famous blonde: Barbie.
The Gossip Girl star has always been at the forefront of fashion and is a regular at New York fashion events ranging from the Met Gala to Fashion Week. Lively made her debut appearance at the star-studded Michael Kors presentation this spring 2024 season, where she’s been a front-row regular for years.

Though Lively was there as a guest and spectator on Monday, Sept. 11, she looked just as stylish as the models that walked the catwalk. Her outfit of choice—head-to-toe Michael Kors, of course—was completely eye-catching. She wore a golden jumpsuit that extended past the knees and looked like it was right out of the 1970s. It was also extremely dazzling, covered with sequins.

The glittery ‘suit, which came directly from the label’s Fall 2023 presentation, was most likely seen by fashion girls. She paired her outfit with a slender belt and striking earrings.

If the Studio 54-inspired design looks familiar, it’s because Barbie (Margot Robbie) wore a similar, though strapless, look in Greta Gerwig’s film, which was released this summer. You’ve seen the movie. It’s the “giant blowout party with all the Barbies and planned choreography,” with Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night,” also known as the “bespoke song,” booming from the speakers. Lively appeared to be a natural fit.
