When you marry into the Royal Family, you’re aware that your actions and attire will be closely scrutinized by the public. Meghan Markle and the late Princess Diana could certainly attest to this reality.
Another member who married into the Royal Family is Queen Camilla, whose marriage to King Charles elevated her to a prominent position within the monarchy. Over time, Camilla has overcome initial criticisms and gained acceptance from the British public, although she still faces occasional scrutiny and criticism, as evidenced by a recent event.

Camilla and King Charles attended the Order of the British Empire ceremony in London last week, where individuals are honored for their contributions to various fields. While the attention typically falls on the royal attire at such prestigious events, it was Camilla’s choice of attire beneath her red silk dress robe that sparked discussion.
The 76-year-old was seen wearing a floral-patterned dress paired with light beige heels, charm bracelets, and diamond earrings. However, some social media users criticized her dress, labeling it a “house dress.”
In response to a tweet comparing Camilla to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who wore a similar red dress robe, some comments were less than flattering.

“Why is Camilla wearing a house dress under that cape?” one person wrote.
Another asked, “Does Camilla just throw a robe over her house dress?”
Criticism extended to the attire worn by Charles and Camilla at the event, with some expressing a preference for modernized versions of traditional attire. Others compared Camilla’s appearance unfavorably to the regal presence of Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Camilla has assumed increased responsibilities lately due to her husband’s and Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnoses. With Charles and Kate stepping back from public engagements to focus on treatment, the pressure has mounted on Camilla to fulfill royal duties.
