A man decided to give his mother a taste of his own medicine during his brother’s wedding. He shared his experience on Reddit, where he was commended for his bravery.

His brother and wife had been dating for seven years before deciding to marry. The man admired his sister-in-law and only had good things to say about her.

He is overjoyed that his brother has met the right woman for him. He also wanted to make certain that no one, no matter who marred their particular day.

Everything went swimmingly until the groom’s mother suffered a nervous breakdown. Following what had occurred, the groom was worried about whether his mother would be able to attend the wedding.

When the groom came down the aisle and saw his mother in an excessively fluffy white bridal gown, he didn’t know what to do. On her eldest son’s special day, the mother opted to make it all about her.

The groom’s brother anticipated that his mother would make everything about her, so he devised a strategy.

“Her dress was much more of a bridal gown than the bride’s that day,” revealed the brother. His mother desired to be the talk of town, and she was—for all the wrong reasons.

The bride was furious when she spotted her mother-in-law in the front row wearing the white bridal gown. They didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of knowing she’d offended them, so the ceremony went on.

The wedding reception, on the other hand, was a disaster. The groom’s brother anticipated that his mother would make everything about her, so he devised a strategy.

He made the decision to take one for the team. “We were served glasses of red wine at lunch, and I asked for mine to be filled to the brim,” he said.

Then he came up to his mother and “tripped,” splashing crimson wine over her immaculate and beautiful white clothing.

The man then put on a show, appearing remorseful as his mother reacted strongly to his ineptitude. He nearly got down on his knees to apologize.

Because of his actions, their mother was compelled to depart and so missed the first half of the reception in order to change into the dress she was meant to wear. It was a four-hour roundtrip trip, and her mother was irritated that she had to wear the outfit that the groom had initially purchased for her.

Nobody bothered that the groom’s mother was unable to attend the wedding celebration. The Maid of Honor even told the man after the tripping moment that he deserved an Oscar for his performance.

Throughout it all, the guy felt no remorse for his acts. Even after the wedding, he was pleased when his new sister-in-law gave him a card that read:

“Enjoy the best bottle of wine I could find for the best wedding gift you could have given us.”

The individual went on to say that he and his mother never spoke again after the incident. He was aware that she had made fun of him during the wedding for what he had done, but he couldn’t care less.

He said that his mother already considered him her “no good” son and that her dissing him was nothing new to him. A part of him also wanted to think that his mother was aware that he had done it on purpose.

People on the internet commended the man for standing up for his brother and sister-in-law, in addition to those present at the wedding. They couldn’t help but criticize the man’s mother for making everything about her.
