Barry Gibb, the only surviving member of the Bee Gees, spent both his 77th birthday and his 53rd anniversary with his wife, who was keeping him alive in the aftermath of his brothers’ terrible deaths…

On September 1, 1946, iconic British musician Barry Gibb, 77, was born. He is best known as a member of the famed Bee Gees. After their family relocated to Australia following the birth of their youngest brother, the late Andy Gibb, the artist and his late twin brothers, Maurice and Robin Gibb, performed as a trio.

Barry’s musical career has spanned 45 years, and his various triumphs have established him as a renowned figure in the music world. In addition to being a great performer, Barry is a devoted spouse, adoring father, and grandpa.

On September 1, 1970, the “Stayin’ Alive” singer married Linda Gray, a former Miss Edinburgh. Stephen, Ashley, Travis, Michael, and Alexandra Gibb are their five children.

Their first meeting occurred while Gray was serving as the week’s host of “Top of the Pops.” Barry, Maurice, and Robin had just completed playing one of their first chart-topping songs when they walked to a neighboring studio. Gray was presenting at the time they went to the studio.

Barry noted an instant connection between them when they first saw each other from across the room. Their love became so intense that an acquaintance who remembered seeing them once at a coffee shop revealed:

“I saw the promise in their eyes as they looked at each other; their love was timeless.”

During the same discussion, Barry stated that he couldn’t live without Gray. However, while they were still dating, even though the couple was madly in love and ideally matched for each other, others were not so sure.

According to a press source, Barry and Gray’s friendship began to cause issues with his family and manager, Robert Stigwood. Despite the turmoil and temptations, the pair married, as Barry said.

The “More Than a Woman” singer said that he and Gray both had several opportunities to end their relationship and find love with other people who made them offers. While Evonne Goolagong tried to set up a date with the Bee Gees member, Barry recalled:

“Once, when we were at the Record Plant in Los Angeles, Steve McQueen tried to flee on the back of his motorcycle with Linda!” She’s a lovely lady who had just as many possibilities as I had!”

There were plenty of options for Barry, an ultra-famous musician with his family band. The brothers received numerous rewards for their efforts during the peak of the Bee Gees’ fame, including pricey luxury automobiles, drinks, and narcotics.

Barry was 21 years old at the time, while Robin and Maurice were just 18 years old. The aforementioned things, according to the elder brother, were always easily available to them. Unfortunately, Robin and Maurice, unlike Barry, suffered from alcohol and drugs.

Spending time with family is something the legendary guitarist treasures.

While Maurice suffered from alcoholism, which brought him to treatment in the early 1990s, Robin struggled with narcotics. Andy, their youngest brother, who rose to musical acclaim as a solo musician, acquired a heroin addiction and died at the age of 30.

In 2003, Maurice died during surgery, while Robin died of cancer. Unfortunately, Barry and his connections with his siblings were complicated and difficult when they died.

In terms of why Barry feels he did not die like his siblings, he thanks Gray for keeping him alive. According to the only surviving member of the Bee Gees:

“My brothers had to face their issues, but I was married to a lady who wouldn’t have it… She would never let me proceed on that path. I had to deal with my brothers being almost everywhere, but I was fortunate.”

Although Barry acknowledged experiencing survivor’s remorse for the murders of all of his siblings, the “Night Fever” singer feels privileged to have a nice life in Miami with his family. Barry has resided in Miami since 1974, according to sources.

He loves the beachy palm tree destination because it reminds him of Australia, where he lived with his parents and brothers after relocating there when he was 11 years old. His opulent waterfront property is located in an elite country club near his children and grandchildren.

Spending time with family is something the legendary guitarist treasures. During a 2020 interview in which he described how he views many themes like politics, wealth, religion, and so on, one of the interviewer’s queries concerned what he prays for. Barry’s reply was:

“The health of my family, my children, and my grandchildren.” And I hope that music will return in a more romantic form.”

The actor usually keeps his personal life quiet and is only seen out in public on rare occasions. In 2021, Barry and his wife went out for some afternoon errands, which was a rare occurrence.

Barry dressed down in black slacks, a long-sleeved blue T-shirt, and black dress shoes. His wife dressed up significantly in blue jeans, mule heels, and a flowing white blouse and carried a Louis Vuitton bag on her shoulder.

The photographs showed the couple in great spirits as they climbed into their stylish black SUV. They were celebrating their 51st anniversary at the time they were spotted.

On September 1, the couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. This is also Barry’s 77th birthday.

Barry and Gray have been married for nearly seven decades and are still going strong. They now spend their time at their Miami waterfront house with their family.
