Paul Skinner, 58, went on a bike trip with his pals.
As they journeyed along a more isolated path, they observed an unusual object moving in a ditch beside the road.
They made the decision to move closer in order to better grasp the situation at hand. When they drew closer, they found a terrified, seemingly abandoned dog clutching a sack in his jaws, attempting to protect it.
However, the men were astonished when they opened the bundle.
There were four dead pups in the package. It appears that the puppies were born on the same day.
The men were terrified by what they had witnessed and promptly called the police.
They arrived at the scene along with officials from an animal shelter, who took the puppy and called her Carly.
After some investigation, the police concluded that Carly was abandoned in the ditch with her pups shortly after giving birth. Although the owner abandoned them, Carly always stayed with her cubs; however, it appears that she failed to remove them from the tightly sealed plastic bag.
We can only hope for the arrest and punishment of Carly’s owner for this heinous act. He is guilty of unspeakable brutality. He not only abandoned the mother and puppies, but he also placed them in a knotted plastic bag, denying them any hope of survival. He condemned them to death.
Carly is a cocker Spaniel.
Unfortunately, incidences of animal abandonment and abuse are increasing. Tougher legislation and harsher penalties are required for individuals who perpetrate such atrocities.
We can only hope that Carly finds a decent home to care for her as she deserves. She is a heroine who, despite the heat and a lack of food and water, chose to protect her puppies until the very last moment.
