Gwen Stefani’s family has become a bit furrier! On Thursday, the “Don’t Speak” singer and “The Voice” coach welcomed an adorable new addition to their family: a fluffy kitten called Corn Shelton.
And yeah! The cat proudly bears the surname of Stefani’s husband, Blake Shelton! The thrilled cat mom rushed to social media to announce the news, sharing a brief, emotional video of Corn’s journey to become the newest member of their family.
Stefani stated that the kitten was “so sick” and “hardly alive” when he initially arrived at their house. However, with much love and compassion, she brought the sick stray back to health. “We’re so grateful that he’s a part of our family,” she captioned the video, which has now received a rush of heartfelt fan comments.
One fan congratulated the pop artist with a simple “Good job, Gwen. ❤❤.” Another admirer said, “Aww…kitties are adorable 🥰.” But it was a statement about how fortunate Corn is to be a member of the Stefani-Shelton family that stole the show. “This baby hit the jackpit [sic],” said one attentive fan.

Corn’s arrival makes the Stefani-Shelton home purr with even more affection. The furry family member even appeared on the season 26 debut of “The Voice” on Monday night.
The episode included a spectacular Blind Audition from 15-year-old Sydney Sterlace, and Gwen Stefani, who had recently returned as a coach after a lengthy break, chose Corn as an innovative technique to persuade the young singer to join her squad.
As she brought the cat on stage, emotions were varied, with some fans applauding the move and others surprised by the unexpected appearance.
Sterlace, a teenage singer from Buffalo, New York, impressed the audience and coaches with her strong performance of Olivia Rodrigo’s classic song “Driver’s License.” The teenager’s performance wowed Stefani and Michael Bublé, who turned their seats early in the audition.
Later, Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire did the same. Before she finished singing, the rapper even stood to give Sterlace a standing ovation. This outstanding audition landed the girl in a coveted position, with all four coaches anxious to have her on their teams.
Stefani began her presentation by discussing her relationship with Rodrigo, whom she played with at Coachella earlier this year.
“It took me a minute to hit my button because it was so similar to her tone. Finding out you’re 15 years old… “For me, it’s all about getting to know you and how we can improve your singing style, Sydney,” she told the young singer.
The “No Doubt” singer went on to say that “The Voice” is like a “boot camp,” where she can help Sterlace improve as an artist. She concluded her appeal by describing herself as the “cool mom” that the girl needed to lead her on the show.
Bublé was the next speaker, and he discussed his experiences working with musical masters such as Tony Bennett. He encouraged Sterlace to embrace the practice of learning from others.
“I got to work with Tony Bennett, my hero. I responded, ‘Mr. Bennett, I’ve taken everything from you,’ and he answered, ‘You know, child, when you steal from one person, you’re just a thief; when you steal from everyone, you can call it research. And that is what we do as musicians,” Bublé stated.
Snoop Dogg arrived later and compared Sterlace’s singing to a heavenly experience. “You captured me like I was in church. You just held the audience’s attention. “You made me move and get up,” he explained.
The rapper also stated that he was so captivated by her voice that he couldn’t wait until the song ended to show his respect. McEntire followed, praising the teen’s emotional maturity and ability to connect with the audience on such a profound level.
With all four coaches fighting for Sterlace’s attention, the pressure was on the adolescent to make a choice. However, Stefani surprisingly increased the stakes.
The singer took Corn on stage, shocking her other coaches and sparking an uproar online. She said that the cat came on her porch and had no name. Then she named it “Sydney” after the young vocalist.
Stefani’s unusual manner appeared to captivate both the contestant and the crowd, with Snoop Dogg mockingly labeling it an “illegal use of an animal.” As a result, Sterlace decided to join Team Gwen.
While adorable, the kitten’s arrival was not warmly greeted by many. Many fans were quick to criticize Stefani for utilizing it in her presentation. A viewer commented, “Don’t appreciate the way Gwen manhandled that scared kitten and used it as a tactic to win a contestant.”
