Bryce Dallas Howard shares how her father prevented her from acting as a kid

Bryce Dallas Howard, renowned for her role in the upcoming movie Argylle, recently shared in an interview the unique approach her parents, Ron and Cheryl Howard, took regarding her entry into acting during her youth. In contrast to her famous father’s career in the industry, they were adamant about not supporting her pursuit of acting at a young age. Instead, they encouraged Bryce to gain work experience in various fields.

As a teenager, Bryce was granted the opportunity to explore different industries by her parents. She worked as a waitress, in a deli, and even received a waiver to be on a payroll at the age of 14. Her professional journey included roles in diverse jobs such as working on an assembly line at a factory, babysitting, and dog walking.

Reflecting on her past, Bryce expresses gratitude for her parents’ decision, acknowledging that it took some time for her to establish herself as an actor. She later pursued her passion for acting at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Bryce has achieved success in notable films such as The Village, Spider-Man 3, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Help, and the Jurassic World series.

Beyond her acting career, Bryce has ventured into directing, working on projects like the documentary Dads and episodes of popular shows such as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Maintaining a strong bond with her father Ron, they frequently engage in discussions about movies. Bryce values having family members in the industry and even had the opportunity to shadow her father during the production of the 2018 Star Wars film Solo, convincing him to include her in the crew she had recently collaborated with on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
