Burger King employee who ran the whole restaurant alone for 12 hours gets fired after a viral video

A mother-of-three who went viral after running a Burger King shop alone for 12 hours claims she has been fired.

Nykia Hamilton’s exceptional multitasking abilities became a major subject on social media in July, as footage of her working a serious shift was published on TikTok.

A customer watched her run one of Burger King’s outlets in Columbia, South Carolina, fully alone and was surprised to see that Nykia was ‘doing everything by herself.’

“[She’s] doing the fries, the burger, and the chicken sandwiches,” the lady can be heard saying as Nykia, 25, juggles several chores, including running the drive-thru and cleaning.

“She’s doing everything she needs to do to make sure everybody is okay in here,” a client said.

The video of Nykia managing Burger King alone for 12 hours straight went viral, as many couldn’t believe she was keeping the restaurant open by herself.

Social media users subsequently labeled her a ‘Burger King mom’ as Nykia revealed that she is also parenting three children alone, saying, “At the end of the day, I do it for them.”

“I have three children to care for, and I’m a single mother,” she told WACH Fox 57. “I still have to feed them, and my child is set to start school.

“You must do what you are required to do. I’m trying to do my best. I have three children, and they rely on me. They are in love with me. I miss my own children’s lives since I work so much.

“I have to support them, but I don’t have time to spend with them, which makes me sad.” Hopefully, one day I won’t have to worry so much and can be there for them.”

According to Nykia, despite only working there for around three months, she was left to handle the Burger King store by herself after another employee ‘quit’ abruptly.

“I had to do the dishes, do prep, do the floors, do the front counter, and do the drive-thru,” she went on. “We just don’t have any employees; nobody wants to work anymore.”

The mother then expressed gratitude to her general manager for giving her the opportunity to work at the fast food chain, admitting that it is ‘impossible to obtain a job with a [criminal past].’

Nykia explained why she did not depart the ship despite the personnel deficit, saying, “By the grace of God, she gave me a job.” So that is the only reason I stayed: “for her.”

Her constant work ethic appeared to excite social media users, who were eager to help the Burger King employee if she needed it and pledged to follow her trip.

However, Nykia’s narrative appears to have taken a turn for the worse, as she posted an emotional TikTok video stating that she had been fired by the fast food restaurant.

“[Burger King] fired me because I’ve been late because of my kids,” the mother of three explained. “My children come first. You don’t pay for a babysitter or anything.”

Nykia later created a GoFundMe campaign, which has received $72,132 of its $90,000 goal.

“I am a 25-year-old single mother of three who works two jobs,” Nykia informed donors. “I recently got popular after working on TikTok. If you want to contribute, that’s OK. Thank you all for your support.

“I didn’t anticipate that my life would change in the way it has. I truly do everything for my children.”
