Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during a Utah college event. He was 31.
Donald Trump, who regarded Kirk as a “very, very dear friend,” announced the news on Truth Social: “The great and even legendary Charlie Kirk is dead.” Charlie knew and embodied the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America like no other.
“He was liked and revered by everyone, including myself, and he is no longer with us. Melania and I extend our condolences to his lovely wife, Erika, and their family. “We love you, Charlie!”
Trump is one of several high-profile figures who have spoken out in response to the attack on Kirk, including his former presidential opponent, Kamala Harris.
She added, “I’m profoundly saddened by the shooting in Utah. Doug and I pray for Charlie Kirk and his family.
“Let me make it clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this atrocity, and we must all work together to prevent more bloodshed.
Joe Biden posted on X, “There is no place in our country for this type of violence.” It must stop immediately. “Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”
Vice President JD Vance also turned to X, formerly known as Twitter, to write, “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.”
Piers Morgan, a chat show presenter, also posted about the event, calling it ‘disgusting.’
It read: “BREAKING NEWS: Charlie Kirk, 31, a conservative pundit, died after being shot at an event in Utah. An awful attack on free speech and democracy. Charlie always encouraged arguments with anyone. This is horrible and heartbreaking. “RIP, Charlie.”
Kirk was reportedly shot while attending an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (September 10).
The Associated Press confirmed that social media recordings of the event were shot at the Sorensen Centre courtyard on the Utah Valley University campus, where Kirk was speaking.
According to CBS News, a university spokeswoman stated that an individual arrested following the incident has already been released.

The gunman remains at large.
Former Utah politician Jason Chaffetz attended the gathering where Kirk was shot. He informed Fox News Channel about the upsetting incident he observed.
“It seemed like it was a close shot,” Chaffetz remarked, appearing rattled.
He stated that there was a minimal police presence at the event and that Kirk had some security on hand.
“Utah is one of the safest places on the planet,” he explained. “And so we just don’t have these types of things.”
In light of Kirk’s passing, President Trump has ordered that flags be flown at half-mast across the United States.
“In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly great American patriot, I am ordering all American flags throughout the United States lowered to half-mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.,” he wrote.
