Circus Lion had been cooped up for 20 years. Witness his reaction as he’s released

Despite my love for animals, it is clear that a mature mountain lion should not be confined to the back of a pickup truck. Unfortunately, Mufasa, a mountain lion, endured such conditions as a touring circus act in Peru, subjected to a life of torment for public amusement and his owner’s enrichment.

Numerous animals still face mistreatment and neglect in zoos, circuses, and entertainment venues today. While there has been some improvement in recent times, there is still much work to be done. Thousands of needy animals continue to endure cramped conditions, devoid of the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives.

Mufasa’s plight came to light when a chained mountain lion was found on a pickup truck in Peru, forced to live a life he neither desired nor deserved for twenty years. Fortunately, Animal Defenders International, an organization dedicated to animal rights, successfully secured his release in 2015 after months of tireless efforts to shut down an entire Peruvian circus.

Mufasa’s well-being significantly improved upon gaining his freedom. He was granted the fundamental right that all wild creatures deserve – to spend his final years in the embrace of nature and on his own terms, free from a life filled with fear and persecution.

While Mufasa enjoyed a few months of freedom after his rescue, his health began to decline. Chained to the back of a pickup truck for two decades had taken a toll, leading to kidney failure and other age-related issues. He passed away in 2015, as reported by Animal Defenders International.

Though Mufasa’s story ended with sadness, it continues to shed light on a crucial issue. He was a magnificent and gentle creature who found joy in simple pleasures like back scratches. While it is heart-wrenching that he couldn’t have more time in his natural habitat in the Amazon, it would have been an even greater tragedy if he had never experienced freedom at all.

No animal should endure the treatment that Mufasa faced. Please share this video to demonstrate your support for animals and bring attention to their plight.
