Coach gets famous on the internet for this one act during a children’s basketball game. VIDEO

Teachers are among the most vital members of our community, yet they are also among the most underestimated.

It takes a special individual to devote their life to educating others, serving as role models, giving advice, and mentoring the next generation.

We frequently hear about teachers who go above and beyond to aid others, particularly the youngsters in their care.

Jonathan Oliver, a physical education teacher at WG Nunn Elementary in Valdosta, Georgia, was praised for his kindness to a kindergartener while coaching a basketball game.

When one of his pupils approached him for aid, he was only too delighted to oblige.

When one of Oliver’s basketball team’s kindergarteners, Kristen Paulk, begged him to help her pull her hair back in a ponytail, the coach sprung into action.

Oliver seemed focused as he worked on braiding her dreadlocks back away from her face, taking a knee on a basketball to get down to little Kristen’s level. Though he had no idea he was being videotaped.

Kandice Anderson, another elementary school teacher, actually videotaped the coach’s nice gesture and posted it on YouTube, where he received warm praise from the public.

The popular video was titled “When your job goes beyond teaching!”

The video finally found its way to Good Morning America, which reached out to the 34-year-old father of three for an interview.

“It was shocking to me that it got that much attention because we all do it,” Oliver said on Good Morning America, adding that he had no idea he was being recorded.

“We [teachers] want to make them feel at ease and enjoy their time here,” he continued. “We try to shower them with as much love as we can. It was simply a ponytail to me.”

The compassionate coach told the source that Kristen had requested his help placing a ponytail in her hair during a basketball game, but that his knowledge, unfortunately, does not extend beyond that, despite the fact that he frequently assists with his daughter’s hair styling.

“It’s a good thing she requested a ponytail. “If there was anything else, I’d say, ‘You better ask your mom,'” he laughed.

Miyah Cleckley, Kristen’s mother, told the publication that the video moved her, stating, “I always know that Kristen is in very good hands with him. I found that to be quite endearing because her father styles most of their hair. We have five daughters and one boy, so when I’m at work, he has to carry the burden of fixing their hair.”

This is just one example of a teacher going above and beyond for their kids. They are true heroes!
