Coldplay frontman Chris Martin praised Michael J. Fox as the band’s “hero” during the emotional performance

Michael J. Fox embraced his inner rockstar!

The actor, 63, joined Coldplay to play guitar during the band’s headline performance at the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom on Saturday, June 29.

“With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox,” vocalist Chris Martin told Variety, referring to the star’s blockbuster Back to the Future film.

The band then sang “Humankind,” according to the publication, before Fox remained on stage to strum a guitar during a rendition of Coldplay’s “Fix You.”

Fox was in a wheelchair for some of the show. In 1991, the actor received a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.

Following the concerts, Martin, 47, thanked Fox for playing a vital part in developing his musical career.

“The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the Future,” the musician said to Variety. “So thank you to Michael, our hero.”

Fox previously performed “Johnny B. Goode,” the Chuck Berry song featured in Back to the Future, with Coldplay at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey in July 2016.

Coldplay made history this weekend at the Glastonbury Festival, where they headlined for the sixth consecutive year.

Earlier in the night, the band welcomed rapper Little Simz as a surprise guest to perform a new song. Martin’s fiancée, Dakota Johnson, watched the band perform live at the event.
